Nest Guild Members Mingle with Industry Members at Nest’s Annual Artisan Showcase

Last week, Guild members, Nest brand partners and supporters, gathered at the design offices of Nest partner, Mara Hoffman, for the second annual Artisan Showcase. The Artisan Showcase is designed to connect artisan leaders and brands in a more genuine and conversational way and is timed to coincide with NYNow and Shoppe D’Objet when many Artisan Guild members are in town. The centerpiece of the evening is a curated display of contemporary artisan products from Guild members which features a diverse range of craft techniques, product categories, and regions of artisan production.

This year’s showcase invited 17 Guild member businesses to take part, including Collective Humanity(Cambodia), Global Mamas (Ghana), Itza Wood (Guatemala), KhoKho (Eswatini), Lai – Artisanal Jewelry (India), LIKH (Philippines), Manos del Peru (Peru), Nashira Arno Jewelry (Dominican Republic & USA), Salt + Still (USA), Sari Bari (India), SIN (USA), Soko (Kenya), Starfish Project (East Asia), Studio Coppre (India), Studio Variously (India & Nepal), TRUSS (Mexico), and Turquoise Mountain (Afghanistan, Myanmar, Jordan & Saudi Arabia).

Welcoming remarks from Nest partners Tina Robinson Porto from Oscar de la RentaCatherine Holmberg from Loeffler RandallDana Davis from Mara Hoffman, and Sudakshina Sinha Banerjee, co-founder of Studio Coppre, a 2019 Nest Artisan Accelerator participant business, touched on the importance of bringing visibility to artisan handworkers in the supply chain, the organic creative process born out of designer-artisan collaborations, and role of artisan businesses and brands in preserving important craft traditions around the world.
