Co-op Salon Spotlight: Maison de Mode, Shipper and Nest

Thank you to our Nest Co-opers and friends who joined us on Manhattan’s UES for cocktails, artisan fashion and conversation. This month’s Co-op Salon was hosted in partnership with Maison de Mode, the newest online destination for ethical luxury – andShipper, an awesome new line of outerwear that makes use of global artisan techniques.Fashion designer and Nest Co-oper, Alexander Shipper, walked us through the inspiration and process behind her production with Nest Guild artisans in Varanasi, India, where Nest is working to keep the 500 year-old handloom silk-weaving tradition alive. While Maison de Mode shed light on the importance of a designer’s conscious ethos in informing the retailer’s buying decisions – and shared insights surrounding the growing consumer demand for luxury products that demonstrate social consciousness as an added bonus to standout design.
