Chief Programs Officer

Full-Time, New York, New York

Nest is a New York City based 501(c)3 nonprofit committed to furthering global workforce inclusivity, gender equity, and cultural preservation through responsible development of the global craft sector. We are seeking a full-time Chief Programs Officer (CPO) with a proven track-record of leading a successful program strategy that delivers upon KPIs. Ideal candidates will be expert problem solvers and experienced managers who thrive in an entrepreneurial environment and have a passion to do good. The Chief Programs Officer will oversee all Nest’s programs for artisan SMEs overseeing implementation of both direct to artisan programs and industry initiatives done in partnership with brands and retailers.. The role will be a major contributor to further establishing Nest as a leader in the handworker space by continuously improving Nest’s overall program delivery with a focus on improving internal efficiencies while delivering upon impact metrics.

The position will be part of Nest’s executive leadership team, reporting to Nest’s CFO/COO and will oversee the execution of Nest’s core programs including, but not limited to: 1) artisan capacity building programs, 2) Nest’s compliance program for homes and small workshops 3) and artisan sourcing partnerships and special projects. The CPO will work collaboratively with other members of the executive team to strategically expand Nest’s core program in alignment with long-term organizational goals.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities

• In coordination with the Nest executive team, play a key role in the overall development, strategic planning, service delivery, and management of Nest program implementation and impact

• Supervise Nest’s Programming Team of 5 including 3 direct reports, managing successful workflow, and creating team cohesion

• Report to Nest’s leadership and Board on programming KPIs as mapped to Nest’s strategic plan and overall organizational goals

• Work closely with the finance department to budget and monitor programmatic operations with responsible fiscal management. Identify necessary resources for successful program implementation and deploy them efficiently to meet targets, working with staff to balance workload and priorities and providing regular feedback so that key staff can continuously improve their implementation and performance

• Work with Nest’s partnerships team to ensure that programming is being implemented in alignment with funder/client expectations

and goals, assisting with brand and foundation requests for proposals as well as reporting on activities

• Develop strategic partnerships with key implementing partners to carry out program goals

• Continuously monitor and analyze program metrics, utilizing Nest’s robust sets of program data to inform operational decision-making.

• Serve as a liaison to key and strategic partners as well as be a public voice for Nest’s organizational mission including speaking engagements and high level meetings and events

• Contribute to the Nest culture of inclusivity, kindness, collaboration, and strong work ethic, both in the workplace and in public forums where you are representing Nest

Qualifications

• Minimum of eight years leadership experience in a nonprofit, government, philanthropy, or consulting practice

• Preferred experience working internationally or in developing economies, with expertise in one or more of the following service areas: artisan/handcraft business, supply chain, workforce development, economic development, women’s inclusivity, or informal economy engagement

• Dedicated interest in Nest’s mission

• Demonstrated management experience, with a comprehensive working knowledge of program planning, organizational structure, budgeting, administrative operations, and fundraising

• Demonstrated ability to analyze and compile complex data for planning and reporting purposes

• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to represent the organization externally across a wide range of stakeholders

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, outcomes-driven and entrepreneurial environment

• Willingness to travel, within the US and internationally

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Business/Public Administration or a related field is strongly desired
