CNN Style Says Katchy Kollections is a Rising Star in Africa

Lest we forget that fashion is a global industry, Africa will remind us to look beyond the runways of New York, Paris, London and Milan. CNN Style recently shared a story entitled: The rising stars of a $31 billion industry, which is an exploration of the fashion movement taking root and growing wildly in Africa. Among the vibrant movement of unapologetic designers, bloggers and stylists is a name familiar to the Nest Guild artisan family: Katchy Kollections. Katchy Kollections, led by Anthony Muli, is currently catching attention for their hand-crocheted plastic bags adorned with signature beaded ornaments inspired by the Maasai jewellery traditions indigenous to Kenya. In CNN’s story, Anthony is included in a reverent nod to designers who “are re-framing what it means to be an ‘African’ designer”… They constantly make beautiful jewelry and accessories that challenge the notion that Africa ‘doesn’t do luxury'”. The quote is taken from a May-released book entitled “Fashion Cities of Africa” by Hannah Poole and you can find it on Amazon. Bravo to Katchy Kollections. Surely this is artisan redefined.
